Veterans Day: Thank You for Your Service

November 11th marks the United States federal holiday known as Veterans Day. Also known as Armistice Day, this remembrance celebrates veterans and active duty military that served our country. This freedom encourages citizens to spread appreciation to our troops and veterans.

The first anniversary of the end of World War I occurred on November 11th, 1919. President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed this day to be observed for the “heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory.” In 1926, Congress passed a resolution for an annual observance and Veterans Day officially became a national holiday beginning in 1938. What distinguishes Veterans Day apart from Memorial Day is that it pays tribute to all American veterans living or deceased. It is a day where we honor the men and women who honorably served and protected our country.

Today, Veterans come from all walks of life. They are our neighbors, our friends, our coworkers, and our loved ones.  As the Veterans Day holiday approaches, it is important for all of us to remember and honor the courageous and proud women and men that have served our country as members of the Armed Services.

While we should all celebrate our veterans this November 11th, this is not just another holiday for the Stearns team.  As Stearns, we are committed to giving back to our veterans.  That’s why Stearns offers VA loans to veterans.
