Stearns and HomeAid Team Up to Provide Care Kits to Homeless
Join us in our 2nd Annual HomeAid for the Holidays Drive.
It’s surprising what people miss most when they don’t have a home. The luxurious warmth of a nice, hot shower. The fresh, clean feeling of brushed teeth and combed hair. The sense of satiety that even a simple snack can bring. At Stearns, we love helping families and individuals realize their dream of home ownership, but we also realize that many don’t have a place to call home. That’s why we’ve teamed up with HomeAid
this year for our second annual Lending Hands HomeAid for the Holidays Drive
. Our goal is to collect, assemble and distribute 3,500 Care Kits containing basic hygiene items to homeless shelters across the country—and we need your help to make it happen.
From November 11th through December 6th, 2017, we will be accepting donations from employees, colleagues and friends of the following items:
- Bar soap
- Travel-Size shampoo
- Travel-Size conditioner
- Granola bars
These may seem like “just the basics” when it comes to personal care, but to people who receive them, Care Kits provide a great deal of comfort. Care Kits also show homeless people that someone else cares about them on a personal level. Participating in the Lending Hands drive is easy. Just drop off donated items in bins at any Stearns location.
Last year, Stearns set a goal of donating 2,400 Care Kits, and the generosity of our team members and friends was truly overwhelming. With your help, we donated 4,696 Care Kits containing 29,026 items to seven shelters
. What’s more, over 200 Stearns employees volunteered to pack and distribute kits. This year, we’re raising our goal to 3,500 Care Kits—and we can’t wait to see how many will be collected.
We know the Holidays can stressful, with gifts to buy for family, charity drives at school and in your community, and long to-do lists—but with the Lending Hands drive, even the smallest donation can make a big difference. We invite you to join us in sharing a little joy with someone else this holiday season.
